DRUM SCAN
Ask for a drum scan when you want uncompromising quality. No other type of scanner can come close to a drum scanner when it comes to capturing details throughout the tonal range, from the brightest highlights to the darkest shadows. A drum scan is a must for high quality large format prints or for any other high end printing process.
All drum scans are wet mounted. All films are carefully inspected and cleaned before and after scanning. The scans are inspected on a hardware calibrated monitor and optimized for the most faithful color reproduction. We use only Kami mounting fluid and PEC-12 film cleaner, the safest materials to use on valuable original films. Our drum scanning process results in clean scans that need little or no retouching, and the customer originals are usually returned in a cleaner state than they were before.
We can scan either positive or negative transparency films. Originals must be transparent and flexible for wrapping around the drum. Mounted slides will have to be taken out of their mounts. Remounting slides will cost $1.00 per slide. Negatives must be accompanied by guide prints for best results.
We can deliver scans in RGB, CMYK, LAB, or Grayscale format. We use custom scanner profiles for scaning and the scans are delivered in the requested format, tagged with the correct profile.
